About You
What is your full name?
Adam Hauptman.
How old are you?
About 65 or so, we don't make much fuss of birthdays. I only look about mid-twenties though, as a result of my change.
When were you born?
Just after WWII, around '45, give or take.
Where were you born?
Texas.
What is your ethnic background?
German and Slavic.
What is your education in? What's your job?
Usual schooling for the time. Joined the military right out of high school. Fought in Vietnam, where I was changed. I now run a security company, plus various P.R. efforts for the pack and the Marrok. I'm fourth in the chain as far as the Marrok's command and succession go, after his two sons.
Do you have any religious affiliations?
My family was Protestant, which is what my dog tags say, but I'm non-observant. The closest I get I suppose is meditation before and after my martial arts practice.
Where do you live currently?
Finley, WA.
Living with Hex
When did you join her?
Late May, 2010.
How have you changed by coming here?
None, so far.
How often do you visit "home" (wherever that is)?
I’m quite busy at home, with my company, pack responsibilities, my daughter, Mercy and all the supernatural problems that seem to follow her... Suffice to say, home is the default locale.
Who are some of your friends here?
Well now. Only a handful of them them aren't vampires, so that sort of limits my interactions. Hex tells me two of the vampires are willing to attempt friendship as they have prior association with werewolves, but to be blunt, I simply don't like vampires.
Who are some people you can't stand?
I wouldn't say I can’t stand the vampires. They just make my wolf's fur bristle.
Does it bother you that no one else can interact with you?
I've got enough interaction going on on my own life, both from the commitments mentioned above and the pack bonds that keep me tied to everyone.
How do you like watching/reading movies/books with you in them?
Since Patty talks to Mercy (predominantly) to get the stories, I don't take much issue with them. Sometimes it's interesting to learn a little more about how Mercy sees me, but that's less of an issue now that we’re mated.
What is your relationship to Hex?
That's hard to pin down. More than associates or aquaintances, but haven’t quite grown into friendship yet. I suppose we are heading that way though.
Miscellanea
What do you like to do when hanging out with Hex?
Again, not much down time. Like right now, I'm supposed to be going over expense reports for the company, but since I'm the boss, I decided they could wait for a bit.
What sort of books do you like to read?
Military, martial arts, weaponry, fiction involving the above.
What is your favourite movie?
I enjoy action movies for the most part. Mercy's been trying to expand my horizons here though.
Which song do you think describes you the best?
(He mumbled something about not showing weakness, but I coaxed it out of him that he sometimes sings "Stand By Me" to Mercy as a lullaby. Mercy and his daughter, Jesse, also taunt him with "Monster" by Lady Gaga. --Hex)
Do you have any pets that you either brought with you or received after arriving here?
Do the pack members count as pets? How about Mercy? No, other animals tend to steer clear of werewolves, even in human form; they can always sense and smell our wolves. Although Mercy's manx cat, Medea, is the exception thus far, she loves all of us.
How would you classify your sexuality?
Straight, but werewolf boundaries are a little different than humans'. As Mercy observed once when I hugged Ben (one of my wolves), it went on longer than most would consider acceptable for two heterosexual males. But we're not human anymore. Especially in our wolf forms, we prefer to sleep close, even in a pile, and will even exhibit some of that behavior in human form as well, if the need is great enough. I think this is why Warren, who is gay, makes so many other wolves uncomfortable, although intuitively one would not think it so.
